KEVIN BLACK

Kevin Black - Owner, operator, head coach

Kevin Black started Victory School of Wrestling in 2006 after spending two years on the coaching staff at the University of Wisconsin.  Black has extensive coaching experience at every level.  He began his coaching career with his brother Tony during college.  Together, the ran the Black Bros Wrestling Camps.  Kevin and Tony were the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Co-State Coaches in 2003-05.  Black also spent one season as an assistant high school wrestling coach in Lodi, WI.

In 2010, Black was named USA Wrestling Women’s Coach of the Year.  He has been a World Team coach in 2007 (Baku, Azerbaijan) and 2009 (Herning, Denmark) and has been on many international tours with USA Wrestling.  He has also been a part of the Olympic Development Program since 2007.

At Victory School of Wrestling, Black has been a part of developing over 30 high school state champions, 39 USAW All-Americans and 7 World Team/US National Team members.

As an athlete, Black won four individual high school state titles at River Falls High School with a 160-0 career record.  During high school, he also won four freestyle state titles and three Greco-Roman titles.  In 1998, he was named to the prestigious ASICS Tiger All-American list and was an Amateur Wrestling News and Wrestling USA All-American.  While in high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society and completed his academic career (K-12) with perfect attendance.  Black attended the University of Wisconsin and was an All-American for the Badgers.  He also wrestled internationally representing Dave Schultz Wrestling Club.

Black is married to Liz (Reusser), a standout athlete in high school and college with 16 high school state titles and several All-American honors and Big Ten titles.  Together, the reside in River Falls and have two children, Isaiah and Micaiah.

 

RYAN TURNER

Ryan Turner has been an assistant coach at Victory School of Wrestling since 2007.  He has been involved in the success of many of the upper weights who attend Victory, including numerous state champions.  As an athlete, Turner was a four-time state place winner for Spring Valley High School.  He attended the University of Wisconsin and was a four-year letter winner for the Badgers.  His senior season in Madison included his three brothers on the roster as well (Adam, Tony and Tyler).

Ryan is married to Bobbie and together they have one child, Asher, and are expecting a daughter this summer.  Ryan spends his days as the Media Services Manager for VEM Global.

 

JON LANTZ

Jon Lantz has been involved at Victory School of Wrestling in multiple rolls since the doors opened in 2006.  He helped with the construction and organization before bringing his sons to youth practices.  He was the Ellsworth Middle School wrestling coach before assuming the head coaching responsibilities at River Falls High School 2007-2009.  Currently, helps with the middle school and high school athletes at Victory.  His oldest son was a high school state champion last season.

Jon works for the State of Wisconsin and owns one of the top Guernsey herds in the world.  Married to Jaimie for 15 years, they have three children – Jens, Anders and Maren.
